Copyright Infringement Case Review: Chang Ee Yjourn and Apex Catalyst Pte Ltd

In July 2024, Piranha Pte Ltd commenced legal action against Mr. Chang Ee Yjourn and ApexCatalyst Pte Ltd regarding a copyright infringement dispute. The legal action has been settled out of court on 25 October 2024, with Piranha Pte Ltd receiving nominal compensation from Mr. Chang Ee Yjourn and ApexCatalyst Pte Ltd, and the removal of the disputed content from Mr. Chang Ee Yjourn’s course.

The full message signed by both parties is as follows:

1. On 3-4 & 10-11 September 2022, Chang Ee Yjourn (“CEY”) attended the XSPY Trader and Price Action Manipulation Courses (collectively, the “Piranha Profits Courses”) conducted by Piranha Pte Ltd (“Piranha Profits”). The Piranha Profits Courses were created by Mr. Alson Chew Ming Yong in 2016. As a student of the Piranha Profits Courses, CEY gained access to the course materials.
   
   
2. CEY is the creator and teacher of the course provided by ApexCatalyst Pte Ltd (“ApexCatalyst”) titled “Identifying Market Manipulation Course” (the “ApexCatalyst Course”) since 2023.
   
   
3. A copyright infringement dispute has arisen between Piranha Profits, CEY and ApexCatalyst on the use of expressions of strategies in Annex A.
   
   
4. This legal action has been settled out of Court on terms, which include the removal of certain expressions and nominal compensation.
